ADC strongly condemns offensive action directed at Sydney's Muslim Community
MEDIA RELEASE 28 November 2007
The B'nai B'rith Anti Defamation Commission (ADC) today condemned the highly offensive and inflammatory action directed at Sydney’s Muslim Community.
It has been reported that two pigs’ heads were found dumped at the controversial site of a proposed Islamic school in Sydney’s southwest. It is believed that the action was in protest of this proposal. ADC Chairman, Mr Michael Lipshutz, commented: “The ADC unequivocally condemns this appalling, offensive and inflammatory action. While in a great democracy like Australia people always have a right to protest, extreme actions such as these merely give rise to tension and disharmony. We urge the community to voice their views in a civil and respectful manner.”
Ends.
The B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) is the human rights arm of B'nai B'rith Australia/New Zealand and is dedicated to combating antisemitism and all forms of racism.
